What to do before an update?

Hi

I just update my phone few minutes ago. and when I was doing the process they told me that everything will erase except the SD Card content, I tought that include the apps that I had downloaded, but when I finished it was like I would have bought a new phone lol, everything was clear.Except of course the external card, I mean the music photos etc..

So for the next time could you tell me please what should I do to keep the apps and as much as possible? thanks

if its a major update the same will happen, you can NOT keep the apps since that goes against Android terms of service and what not, use the backup and restore app but save the file on the SD card

thanks, so if I do everything you say in the ''Alternatives on How to backup Xperias'' topic I wil be able to keep the apps that I had? Cause is what I care most, not so much the sms or contacts

You will have to redownload the apps, but it will be easier
