I think the real problem may lie in getting hold of a battery ! You may have to import, sometimes @ pretty steep cost.
Sony will replace it for you, but I don't know how expensive it would be, not cheap I know. I don't know if you're able to buy one from them to fit yourself.
I do know there are a couple of videos out there, one on Utube, but how easy it is I don't know.
