I need help with my 16 year old Sony tv and theatre stand. I’ve removed the tv, but cannot find any information on how to remove the tv stand from the theatre stand so that I can replace the tv. Sony AI doesn’t recognise the request for information.
tv model is KDL-40S4000 and the theatre stand model is RHT G900
Any help would be appreciated.

Omg! I was sure this had some kind of screw fixing going on, but it’s seven rubber pads that have fused together with the glass over the years!
I’m really pleased you stuck with the responses on this 👍
thanks for your input.
Download the manual for the RHT- G900 from here,

Is the model number for your TV correct I couldn't find a 40S400 from Sonys support site.
nearest was a 40V4000 or a 40S2000
Have a look here,

Hi Davey,
Thanks for responding.
The tv model reference is correct, on the front of the unit.
I managed to get the user manuals for both the tv and theatre stand, but neither make any reference to attaching or removing the tv stand. There are no visible clips, screws etc
Are we talking about detaching the TV from the Theatre Stand if so there should be a strap that holds the TV to the Stand held on by two screws, these should be clearly visible at the back of the TV and Theatre Stand.
Or are you referring to removing the TVs own table top stand from the TV itself.
I did find the manual for your TV on Sonys support website (apparently this model was not available in the UK, perhaps why I couldn't find it earlier.)
https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs/kdl-40s4000/manuals
I downloaded the Operating Instructions dated 24/11/2009.
Scroll down to page 4 and there is a graphic showing you where the three screw holes are that attach the table
top stand to the TV. Page 8 is entitled Detaching the table top TV stand from the TV.
See below.
Can you share some pictures.
Are you sure the TV stand is attached through the glass top, there does not seem to be anything in the manual discussing this. The only thing I can find is the section where they describe preventing the TV from toppling over
and that is using the strap attached to the Theatre Stand and the base of the TV stand.
See image attached at the bottom of this post.
Are you sure that the TV stand hasn't just become stuck to the glass after all these years.
If the base of the TV stand was rubber and been sitting on glass it may just have formed a pretty strong bond.
