I was recommended a cable with VGA at one end (fits the laptop OK) but the other end (HDM box) which requires female input and obviously doesn't fit into the HDMI slot on the TV which is female too. According to the picture on page 23 of the TV handbook the input is some strange-looking plug which I haven't got. The slot looks like USB (which it is not) and I'm so confused now. Can someone please tell me which cable I have to buy ?

Hello @jazzerrod,
so if the "TV-end" of the cable is a female HDMI port, you simply need to use a male to male HDMI cable to connect the PC.
I assume your cable is just supposed to adapt the port to a different one and therefore it is female as well as the laptops port normally would be.

Yes, Nic, that works; all I do now is a few tweeks.
Never too old to learn new sfuff, even at 74!
Nice one and thanks.
