Connecting ipad4 wirelessly

Hi,
I'm a bit of a technophobe and was really hoping that somebody could help me.
I have a Sony Bravia and I want to connect my ipad 4 to it so I can watch Netflix etc.
I know there's a lead I can buy but I'm aware I can do it for free wirelessly.
Any advice would be greatly received and in idiot proof format please!!

Simmys19 why do you do not need to connect your iPad to your Bravia to watch Netflix?

If you want to watch Netflix content on your iPad then why not just use the Netflix app.
