Hope someone can help. I’ve had my new Sony RX10 MK4 camera for two months and love it. However, when I use the Direct Manual Focus mode, depress the shutter halfway, and then try to fine tune the focus manually, the viewfinder zeros in on one small part of the image I want to make. How do I stop it from doing this? When I record the mage, it is the full image that was in the viewfinder before it zeroed in on a detail.
Thanks!
Hi @LarryDouglas,
what you describe sounds like focus peaking (I am 99% sure it is), which enlarges a part of the image to make it possible to focus way better than if you see the whole image on the cameras small preview screen.
For my camera (alpha 57K) I have to press a button if I want to use focus peaking - maybe for your camera it automatically activates if you try to use "Direct Manual Focus Mode".
