Thank you for your advice, I downloaded the manual for the camera but I was unable to find any mention about the maximum memory card speed specifications. 

There are many different speeds available, the one recommended with the package was a Sandisk Extreme 90MB/s SDHC UHS-I. What I would like to know in advance if possible is whether it is better to buy a memory card with a much faster read and write speed from the start without buying the recommended speed only to find out afterwards that camera is capable of supporting something much faster.

The Sony website doesn’t appear to mention anything but if users of the previous model already know that the camera does take advantage of something faster then it makes sense to buy the better one from the start.

I found a section in the help guide where Sony lists the types of memory cards that can be used but there isn't mention of maximum read/write speed:
