Purchased CMT-SX7B micro system seven days ago, experienced problem of extremely loud high pitched feedback sound presumably through the speakers whilst playing CD, switched power off immediately and played CD again whereupon normal function resumed.I obviously need to know the reason for this malfunction and to establish whether this problem is liable to reoccur. No other devices such as computer, telephone or TV were switched on only my internet router was switched on. Would be grateful for technical explanation.
Hi there
I am going to assume that this high-pitch feedback sound only occured once and not occured since? If that is the case, I think you might struggle to find an explaination, never mind a technical explaination.
My only assumption is that the CD laser had problems reading the CD - dust, scratch, finger-print perhaps?
Cheers
Hi Quinnicus,
Thank you for replying. It was a brand new CD that I played so there were no scatches or fingerprints etc. Because it is only a week old, I have to get to the bottom of this. I've been a Sony user for 30 years and this has taken my confidence away, had considered buying a Marantz system for a similar price, hope I've not made the wrong choice.
Hi there
I have escalated this thread to Sony Support for them to get in contact with you. My knowledge does not extend this far im afraid. Please ensure that you have up-to date contact details in your profile.
Cheers
Thank you so much my friend for your efforts on my behalf. Against what can be paid for top end hi-fi equipment the amount of money I paid for this sony hi-fi constitutes a substantial investment for me in real terms therefore peace of mind with regard to technical reliability is very importaint. Hope the sony technical team consider a customer of more than 30 years. I have not yet given a review of this product, the rest is up to them how I approach this.
Thanks again.
