MAP-S1 wi-fi connection

Hi. Just installed new modem. Now MAP-S1 won't connect to the wi-fi. On start  up no network icon in the screen window. The manual is useless. It all worked fine with my previous setup. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi rodcy53,

What's your current setup? Also, does it work with LAN connections?

Hi, thanks for your interest - it's appreciated! The setup is a router set to WPA Personal. All other devices work with it (3 phones, 2 computers, tablet, TV - and theSony is not the oldest device). Wifi is receivable by all devices in the same room. And yes, the connection is fine over cable but not wifi.

Hi rodcy53,

Since it works over LAN connections, I'd presume that the issue could be from the receiver itself. Do you get any error messages when setting up the Wi-Fi connection?  I've checked the setup steps on Page 24 of the User manual:

Thanks for your suggestions Vanilla but now I've finally got it working. The manual states pressing down 2 buttons for a factory reset which is necessary to get it to look for a new connection. What the manual does not state is that holding the buttons down together will not work. The Enter button has to be held down first then the ON/OFF button. That done the device looks for wi-fi. Then I had to change the wifi access code from WPA2 to WPA despite the manual saying that the device is certified for WPA2. Now it works.

Everything I have read in the manual relating to my problem has been misleading or wrong. Having some background in Computing I tend to go by the instructions precisely as they are written down. Thankfully, my daughter is more inclined to think that what is written is often just a vague interpretation of the truth. She set me on the right track by working out the reset issue.

Anyway, thanks to you and everyone else in the community who has tried to help me. It has been appreciated.

Best regards

Rod

Hi Rodcy53,

That sounds amazing. Thank you for sharing this with us. I'd have never noticed that pressing the buttons together wouldn't allow the reset to go through.
