Despite the occasional problems I used to be able to control my Sony STR-DN1080 using my Google Home speakers, and cast music etc.
I recently started having some problems, so deleted my Sony Amp from my Google Home set up with a view to read add it back in.
The problem now though is that the Sony Music Centre app (iOS) doesn’t even show up when you try to add compatible products into Google Home.
Anyone any ideas why this might be and how to fix it?
Thanks.
Hi brainz
Make sure your apps are up to date first and foremost. and try to re install them if needed.
Taking a look at the Sony website, it doesn't seem that Sony advertises the amp to be officially Google Home compatible, so I'm not sure how much responsibility for maintenance falls on Google and how much on Sony.

Same issue here after the latest update. Doesn't show up in google home or other apps that use the casting.
Tried reinstalling, and all up to date, but still doesn’t work.
Amazing that small Chinese companies can get this sort of thing working, but large well known brands seem to have problems or simply don’t bother 😞
Since you've mentioned this happened after a while, have you tried resetting to factory settings?
Dear John,
I tried this today, no luck. Where I'd find the google cast from the receiver easily with my radio apps, it now just doesn't show up...
Any more leads to a solution?
Thx
Even before you do that, the Google Home app doesn't allow you to add the amp as the "Music Centre" app doesn't even show up as being a compatible app. I think that needs to be fixed first.
Has anyone checked with Google if they have any remedy for this?
