BDP-S570 not streaming .mp4

Hi everyone,

I have a BDP-S570 and have recently purchased a WD myBooklive NAS to store all my media.  A lot of my media is also in iTunes.  The video files for example are .mp4's as this is what iTunes supports.

I am having difficultiers streaming .mp4 frmo the NAS to the player.

According to the manual it says "the player does not play this format on a DNLA server".  Does anybody have any suggestions so that I don't have to have the same media in .avi and .mp4 to play on the different devices.

Thanks

Hi,

not sure what is wrong there but i have the same player, i only have one movie file in mp4 which is The Thing and this plays fine using DLNA from my laptop, sorry thats not much help other than the fact the player will play mp4 files.

DLNA does not support MP4 I believe, and this model stays true to the specification of DLNA unfortunately!

If you are streaming from a laptop then probably your media player is acting as the DLNA server and is transcoding to an MPEG2 (or is that MPEG1?) video stream, which DLNA allows.

I have the same issue with my server which has an old and low power CPU and not able to transcode quickly enough.   Therefore I am stuck with viewing AVI files.

You could to put the files onto a USB stick to watch them.

Alternatively this thread has a description of a fix which involves converting the mp4 to ts.  Have never tried it.
