Hi, I recently bought (via Facebook Marketplace) a Sony Blu Ray Player BDP-S570. In trying to get it set up, I went through the 'reset to factory defaults' and 'remove all personal information' menu options. My issue is that I can't register the player onto my Sony account as it is already regsitered via the previous owner. I've been in touch with Sony and they advise me they need the previous owner to un-register it from his account so I can register it to mine. I've been in touch with the previous owner and his issue is that he no longer has access to the email addess that he used to register his account wth Sony and hence he can't log-in (forgot password and clearly any password reset will go to his old - no longer available- email address), so he can't un-register it. We've both tried calling Sony to explain but they seem to be insisting on receving an email from the previous owner via his registered email address - bit of a catch 22 here! Any advice from anyone as to other things I / we can try? The player will play disks etc but I can't get access to any of the 'smart' features such as iPlayer, Netflix etc.
Forgot to say, I don't have a SEN buton on my remote - mine is a RMT-B107P

I cannot remember what I did but also accessing to the website myself I cannot see anymore my own devices ... in any case this should only relate to playstation video services . You seems to miss also basic YouTube app...
I am sorry but the problem I start thinking is related to the age of your bdp rather old. It is now 9 years old and most of the services are now discontinued. YouTube too.
I didn't realize it is so old (mine is a 2013 model)
Thanks rooobb,
When I first spoke with Sony, they said I should have the apps. When I bought the player, there were more apps on there but I wanted to reset the unit and start from a clean, known, position, so maybe I've inadvertantly brought this on myself. I also took the opportunity to update the firmware to the latest one.
They would have not worked in any case unfortunately. As soon as you'd try to connect they would have asked to update the internet content and disappear in any case. YouTube has been discontinued on any device from 2012 and before. Do not know about Netflix but probably it is the same. I am surprised by Amazon prime since it is not even present in Italy for new devices
Hi
As far as I know, you would be required to register the device on SEN when you launch an app for the first time, so there isn't a specific app that is dedicated to this. The registration is done to an SEN account (not a MySony account) which falls under the support scope of PlayStation.
I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done at this point since the email is no longer accessible but I'd say it's worth it to try reaching out to PS support: https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/get-help/contact-form/
Hi Win_88,
Thanks for your post but its the registering bit I'm having issues with. I know there is not an App as such, it's the SEN website. I have registered an account on the SEN website and this links me to the 'register a product' page that I can't do as I don't have the 5 digit code due to the BDP already being registered to the previous owner. I've had a look at the PS link you provided but I don't have any of the products listed and the subjects are also not overly relevant to my issue. I've just tried calling Sony again (0207 365 2810) and they have riased the issue and now ahve 24 business hours to get back to me to see what else can be done. I shoud also state that the rpevious owner has also been in touch with the help desk in trying to get his old BDP deleted from his account but they are saying they need to receive an email from his registered address, which (due to a change in ISPs) he no loger has access to!
