BDPS 7200 - Netflix audio out of sync with video, but DVD content is OK!

Hi,

We bought a Bluray player for the wife's parents to watch Netflix, but the audio is out of sync with the video.  Slightly (but noticeably) behind it.

We have checked that the problem is not present when playing a DVD.

I have check the audio settings and can't see any problems.

They have installed a wi-fi extender to improve the wi-fi signal and that hasn't helped.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Wildswan

Can you tell us more about the entire setup you're using with this player?

Using an HDMI cable (decent quality) to feed a Hitachi 32" TV (not sure of the model).

The network has been upgraded with a wifi-extender and that doesn't help.  The signal is pretty good now.  The problem persists with or without the wifi-extender.

We bought the player mid last year for my father-in-law and mother-in-law and so with the lockdown, I can't check much except over video-calls.

Have you tried a different HDMI cable or a different HDMI port on the TV?

There could be some settings on the TV that you could check as well.

I have found that the TV is a Hitachi 32HB1J46U.

We did try different cables, but haven't tried the other (there are only two, I believe) HDMI socket on the TV.

I'll get them to try that.

We went through all the settings on the TV that were likely to be responsible for this.

Regards.

Right.  We have tried the other HDMI input on the Hitachi 32HB1J46U and different HDMI cables, but the problem remains.

Do you have the latest software version installed on your player?

I bought the player mid last year, so it should have the 2019 firmware, but I'll check.

Hey @thewildswan,

Any news about the update?

OK

The player is up to date on firmware.

The problem is solved by going into the subtitles menu under the Netflix app on the Blueray player and change the audio from 'English [Original] (5.1)' to 'English [original]'.   NO 5.1.  However, every time the Blueray player is turned off, the setting goes back to 5.1 and the sound is out of sync with the video again.

I think they need to update the firmware so that the set-up choices are remembered.
