Connecting a soundbar to Sony Bravia

Hi

I'm thinking of buying a (Panasonic) soundbar for my Sony Bravia KDL-40S 5500. There's spare HDMI slot on the TV but it's not ARC compatiable, nor can I see an Optical Out connection on the TV. Can I simply connect the soundbar with a HDMI lead withour ARC?

Hi there

Looking at the Specs of your TV, the only option you have is using the composite cables (RCA) to the audio out hifi ports (as indicated in the picture below).  You will need a soundbar that can handle the RCA jacks.
