I own a Bravia KDL-46EX713 which has HD Freeview built in to it. I also own a Sony STR-DH820 AV Amp and they are both connected with a 1.4a version HDMI cable.
I have no optical cable connected and can receive HD in Blu-ray and Freesat all connected to the amp with a 1.4a HDMI cables.
The problem I am getting is that when only watching tv in HD such as BBC HD with the amp on; the amp is not receiving a Dolby Digital signal, only a pcm from the tv although when watching BBC HD through the Freesat, it's signal is Dolby Digital just through the HDMI cable.
My question is, does this tv direct Dolby Digital through its HDMI 1 input/output or do I need to send the signal through optical to the amp to achieve this?
