problem Sony STR-DN1040 no picture

Hi

From Sweden here.

The exact problem.

Have just bought the dn 1040 and want to run it with my Optoma HD70 projector and bluray LG BD550

and digital box from tv supplier.

That is.:

1 Hdmi out to projector. The other machines (bluray+digital box) Hdmi in to receiver marked BD and cabeltv.

No picture on display.

I want to use the Sony as a hdmi switch.

This should work according to Sony support in Sweden.

Well it dont and they dont help me with this.

Furthermore if I connect the projector directy to the bluray and uses coaxil cable for the sound it works.

So anyone have some ideas or do i have return the machine to the shop and buy something else.

I believe its the receiving end (ie AV Receiver) that does the decoding/extraction (unless set to pass-through) of the audio/video signal

Hi there

Was going to suggest a firmware update - but if you cannot output video to your TV to see, you cannot do.  Therefore the issue remains as a HDMI handshake/compatibility issue.

The only thing I can suggest is to follow the suggestions on page 109 of the manual : HERE

Failing that, is to contact Sony Support : HERE

Cheers

Question:

Do the attached units (Hdmi in) bluray, digigat tv box need certain specifications.

I mean where do the signal from the bluray split up to video and audio.

It should work like this:

Signal from blueray to hdmi in on receiver.

The soundfiles goes via receiver out to the speakers and the video goes out to the projector.

Or am i wrong?

Well for your info,

I gave up with the sony amp, returned it an got onkyo tx-nr626 instead.

Plugged it in and it works like a charm...

The Sony is probably better but not for me.

What the ***** is that Sony??
