Hi there !
I have a Sony STR-DE485E, and on the receiver i changed the settings to use the Remote 1 by a mistake - and i've got Remote 2 - my problem is that on the receiver the button to change that setting doesnt work.
So my problem is - i've got a remote that i can't use - and how do i change that on my receiver, when the "+" button on the "MENU" doesnt work ? - Can i "reset" the receiver ?
Or do i need to buy a new remote that is Remote 1 ?.
I hope your understood my problem

Ok only thing left is a full amp reset, turn the amp off and then hold down the power button for 5 secs, if this does not work remove the batteries from the remote for 30mins and then try a new set incase they are no longer working and the remotes software has crashed.
Hi all you need to do is change the remote control mode to match what you have set on the Amp, this can be found on page 41 of the instruction manua or do a remote reset see below;
Press Power, AV power and Master Vol - at the same time.
The indicator lights 3 times, then goes off.
Hi
I've tried that a couple of times now, and what happens is that it goes off without any lights.
And when i turn it on again i still can't use the remote - so i still have the same problem.
Do i do something wrong ?
When i did this it ended in demonstration mode - and then i turned on the receiver it was "resettet" and now i can use my remote.
Big thx !..
I have a 7 channel STR-DE698 that I got from a friend about 4 years ago. He was throwing it in the trash because he couldn't get the remote to work. Other than that, it works just fine.
I moved a year later and it's been sitting in my garage collecting dust until I had a chance to hook it up and try to fix it.
I just tried the "hold the power button for 5 seconds" thing, and Holy Hell it worked!!! It reset, said "press enter", and now the remote controls the receiver PERFECTLY!
Why is this trick not more widely known? I've been searching for a fix for this for a long time, and I even took the whole thing apart two weekends ago to see how difficult it would be to change out the IR receiver on the circuit board.
I cannot believe how simple this was to fix! I feel like I owe you money or something for this fix. You have breathed a second life into this old receiver. Now, instead of being hooked up in the garage, this is most likely going to be hooked up in either my room, or the guest bedroom since I already have a Pioneer Elite 7 ch. setup in the living room.
Thank you so much. Sorry this reply is so dramatic, but i'm just stunned by the simplicity of the fix.
