I have a Sony VHS to DVD deck RDR-VX420, which is connected to my computer via a Canopus box (which converts the RCA to Firewire).
When I record a VHS either to DVD or onto the computer, every so often the deck will randomly display a message over the video. This makes the unit pretty useless, as I do not want my home videos forever tarnished with that message. How do I remove or prevent that message popping up? I have looked through the menus and manual, but nothing mentions it! Is this just an aweful design flaw? I am 100% sure that it has nothing to do with the canopus box, as it is passive.

I have attached a screenshot example of what pops up:
Any help would be appreciated!

I dont have an instruction manual for this unit to hand, but it looks like you have turned on the display info on the RDR-VX420. To be honest I didnt think this would then transfer over but thats what it looks like.
On the remote there is probably a 'display' button which will hopefully hide the information and stop it from being transferred to your PC.
Hope this helps
