5 top tips to make sure your OLED TV is in fantastic shape

Congratulations, you’ve just invested in a piece of history! The A1 Series is our first OLED TV line-up available to the wider public, combining our most advanced visual and acoustic technology into one premium package. With so many impressive features under the bonnet, we bet you that you’ve ignored the instruction manual and jumped straight in (don’t worry, we’ve all been there).

Well, to get you on your way, we’ve come up with our 5 top tips to make sure your TV is running as expected.

1. Reduce image retention

Image retention is a phenomenon where an after-image occurs after a prolonged period with a static image remaining on the screen. Luckily, the A1 has certain functions that react automatically to fight this phenomenon, but you can also manually change some settings:

a. Choose Wide mode by going to the [Action Menu] > [Wide mode] > [Wide zoom, Full or Zoom] setting
b. Turn OFF the On Screen Display by going to the [Action Menu] > [Picture adjustments] > [Picture mode] > [Standard] setting

2. Optimise your TV’s sound quality

The easiest way to improve the sound quality is to use the Voice Zoom mode. You can activate this function by going to the [Action MENU] > [Sound] > [Voice Zoom].

Alternatively, you can set the sound to your preference by adjusting the TV’s equaliser (EQ) band settings.

Issue	Troubleshooting
Voices are difficult to hear	Adjust the 125 or 250 Hz EQ band
Sound is uneven	Raise the 125 Hz EQ band
Sound is high-pitched and loud	1) Raise the 125 Hz EQ band  2) Lower the 2, 4 or 8 KHz EQ bands
The bass is too low or too high	Adjust the 125 Hz EQ band

To set the EQ, go to [HOME] > [Setting] > [TV – Sound] > [Sound] > [Advanced settings] > [Sound mode related] > [Equaliser].

3. Maintain the TV panel’s continuity

Panel Refresh runs automatically to ensure that the picture remains clear and stable, even after long periods of use. A pop-up normally appears to let you know when to run this function. However, you can run it manually, if you feel that the picture isn’t up to your standards.

Please be careful! We recommend not performing this function more than once a year. Using it more frequently could affect the lifespan of the panel.

To perform a refresh, go to [HOME] > [Setting] > [TV - Picture & Display] > [Expert panel settings] > [Panel refresh].

This process takes approximately 1 hour – a white bar should move up and down the screen, checking the pixel condition of your TV screen.

4. Calibrate the panel to perform at its best

Panel calibration is a function that optimises the display, reducing image retention or enhancing the image in darker scenes. This function is performed automatically a few hours after turning off the TV with the remote.

5. Check the brightness setting

If the Light sensor is ON, the brightness of the TV screen will adjust to match the ambient lighting of the room. The actual sensor is located in the bottom part of the screen’s bezel. If you wish to switch this setting off, go to the [Action Menu] > [Picture] > [Light sensor].
