LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screens are used in all BRAVIA® TVs from Sony. Like Plasma TVs, LCD TV are much thinner and flatter than traditional Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) TVs. However, where Plasma TVs create a picture using thousands of small gas cells which produce light when electrically charged, LCD displays use a layer of thousands of crystals which either pass or block light when an electrical current hits them. LCD TVs tend to be thinner and lighter than Plasma TVs, use less power and last approximately twice as long.
