I know BBC iPlayer has had problems this weekend but does Sony know when the problem will be rectified for Sony smart TVs?

Hi there
I know you said about rebooting the TV - do you mean Factory Reset? If not, try doing that?
Also, what version firmware are you running? I understand there might have been an update just recently?
Cheers

This cured the problem, I can now load Iplayer no problem, and play the content.
The downside is that the version of Iplayer it installed will not play HD content. I checked the FAQ's on the Iplayer app and it clearly states it will not play HD. I have a high speed internet connection, so that is not the issue here. Can someone at Sony please explain why I'm given a version of Iplayer that will not play HD when I paid a considerable sum of money for a Sony HD Smart TV, on which I intended to watch in HD ?

Hi there
Unfortunately I think your question would be better aimed at the BBC, as its the BBC the controls and develops the application - whereas Sony's responsibility it to ensure it displays.
The Link I have to contact BBC regarding iPlayer is below, but for some reason, it wont load for me at the moment.

Cheers
EDIT: Thought I'd just mention that the BBC has over 1,200 versions of its iPlayer (a rediculous amount !!)

Thank you Quinnicus for your reply. Actually just after I posted, I discovered another thread in one of the recommended links below ,( BBC iPlayer Issues 2014 (MASTER THREAD) )
which discusses the consequences of the firmware update, and I discovered I am not alone in finding problems choosing higher quality downloads, others have the same issue, but they came to the conclusion that lengthier programmes over 3 hours had this issue, but not shorter ones. I need to check this out in more detail, meanwhile thank you for the link to the BBC.

Your Welcome
I remember that conversation now, in regards to the length of the BBC program, and it was never resolved. Hard to know whos resposibility it is to be honest, its a BBC application, but could be a limitation of the TV as well, so....
Edit, there is a break-away thread now - if you can post in their - Ill forward it onto Sony Support.
