bravia KDL 40V5810 buttons / handset dont work and TV comes on very LOUD!

has anyone come accross this before?  TV worked ok last night and when we turned it on this morning it came on very loud and none of the buttons on the tv or the handset work.  any one got any ideas to help?

I have exactly the same problem. It's started happening after I upgraded to the M 8.728 Firmware from M 8.721

i have been told its a corrupt software issue.  will need to get sony out to repair.  just 'discussing' with them to see if they will pay for it!
