recently bought a 33w905a tv and when accessing the internet I get the pop up rather than the site so how can I turn on the pop up blocker?

HI there
There is no pop-up blocker as far as Im aware, and you cannot install one either im afraid. You could "try" to disable javascript temporarily (if you press options - the option might be there).
Cheers
how on earth can that be an acceptable solution as most websites have pop up ads? Surely it's not beyond reason to expect Sony to know a little about how the internet works..
This is the first time in 3 years that anyone ever mentioned this, so it isn't a big requirement I don;t think. The browser on the TV is principally just to facilitate IPTV service apps, as text input via a remote control is such a massive pain. Anyone using the TV browser as a principle web browser must have a massive tolerance threshold...:smileyhappy:
You cannot compare the brower on Bravia TV's, and most smart tv's for that matter, with the ones you get on pc's, smart phones, etc. The browsers on TV's are limited and are there just for basic web browsing nothing more and nothing less.
that's all well and good but in 2014 it should have more than the very basic useage. It's not acceptbale not to put in fuctions which should be standard. My 3 year old Samsung has more user friendly facilities than this at 20% of the price.
I can access all websites via the Samsung browser but can't on the Sony. defend that as much as you like but Very very poor by Sony and with this (and other) aspects little wonder they have gone well into the red and look to be shutting their TV factories down.
All I want to do is basic browsing which is why a pop up blocker is a basic requirement. It's like buying a car without a stering wheel to be told "oh if you wanted to drive it you should have bought a Korean one"
A car is for driving so a steering wheel would be a basic requirement the same as a screen would on be on a TV. At the end of the day I guess it pays to do research, especially as a pop-up blocker is important you, before you part with your cash.
Hi there
I am going to add my 2p to this.
At the end of 2011 I got a Bravia TV with an inbuilt browser (as well as the PS3) - At the time, I didnt have use of a computer - so between the PS3 and the TV (as well as the local library) that was my way of "surfing". Initially I was quite annoyed because to sign up for Lovefilm, I had to link my Sony Essentials account. I could not link the essentials account without use of an actual PC - no matter how hard I tried. You could not even sign into Sony's Community Forums via the TV either - so it was quite useless. However I did actually manage to do online banking via the TV. The PS3 browser would crash making it also next to useless.
Anyhow, my mentality on this changed when I reminded myself that this is a TV and not a computer. A TV is a visual display device with audio output and if I want computer functionality, you use a PC instead. You use the right tool for the job - Do you hammer a screw into a block of wood or do you use the right tool (ie a screw-driver)?
I also must say that the inbuilt browser has got better from a 2011 TV to a 2013 TV. Im associating this mainly due to an increase in memory and processing on the TV itself. The browser is good for simple tasks, as well as compatibility with some smart applications - but not a replacement for a computer
