Removal of VEWD TV Store

Removal of VEWD TV Store

I notice Vewd is going to be removed from my Sony Tv.  Is it going to be replaced with something else? If not how am I to download apps I want/ need??

All apps and BT box will no longer work. So fed up with Sony updates if this is going to happen every time and they don’t anticipate the problem. Thinking of getting another TV and writing this one off.

This happened last October and we were given a telephone number to call. Anyone still have it? I know John Lewis paid attention because so many people had bought their televisions from them with a 5 year guarantee. I think it was John Lewis that put pressure on Sony and that got results. Has a moderator responded to these complaints?

Hi @Jonquilla,

 

I assume you refer to the removal of the VEWD TV Store and the apps which you previously had access via the VEWD TV Store. 

 

As of 25 June 2019 Sony has terminated the service availability of the VEWD TV Store app on your TV. In accordance with the terms and conditions that were provided with your TV, Sony reserves the right to modify the delivery of content offered through the TV apps. Including the right for discontinuation of apps provided that customers receive a previous notice about the planned changes.

 

There are at the moment no plans to either resume the service availability of the VEWD Store app nor are there plans for replacement apps. You can however opt to make use of an external TV box or streaming device which will in most cases provide much wider functionality than the previous VEWD TV Store app.

 

My personal expectation is that the public complaints against the discontinuation of the VEWD TV Store app will not reverse the decision given that the analytics gathered from the total number of customers worldwide using the service did not justify the feasibility to continue the service. This meant mostly that customers have been proactively making more use of alternative devices rather than the TV inbuilt services.

Thanks for this information. I am wondering if this is a BT isssue as it’s my BT box that is no longer working. I  made an assumption about Sony based on October’s mess but then it was just the apps not my BT box. Hey ho the search for a continuation of service continues!

I bought i sony smart tv with the opera app now it say that sony is no longer using this app so my tv is no longer smart. If sony cares about it s custmor they should fin a solution not saying sorry and hope you anderstand. It s the last time i will buy  a sony product.

Hi @Oussamalaoui89   You should note that you don’t have an Android TV if VEWD was included. However you can join the main thread on this subject in the correct community below.

The problem is clear. 

The qeustion now is what sony will do for million of costumers how bought tv with viewd as a smart tv and now they have no choise.

I m realy upset of this situation. 

I respeact the quality of your products but with the attitude of sony facing this problem i will no longer buy a sony product.

I am sorry but this is a customer to customer community so you are not communicating with Sony but just your fellow customers. Can I suggest you add your frustrations on the link above as this is not an Android TV problem. If you would like to vent your frustrations direct to Sony then please contact Sony UK Support

I am so angry that my brand new TV  I bought this year  for my son  has lost this , now i have lost access to my paid IPTV  that i can not use and can  only look at youtube app . This is totally wrong and even illegal to advertise something that is not true. no so smart after all.
