Sky via HDMI and Assigning it to a Programme Number

Sky via HDMI and Assigning it to a Programme Number

I have a KDL-50W815B Bravia. I want to use the Timer Function so the television comes on for a couple of hours at night when I am staying away on business.

The televison JUST has SKY connected to it via a HDMI cable - so no analogue/digital feeds outside of this.

To use the timer I need my Sky channel assigned a Programme number but cant see a way to do this. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi there

You cannot do this via the tv alone, as the tv will not automatically select a HDMI source upon switch on the tv.  I dont have a sky box to know if it is possible to have the sky box to set a timer for it to be switched on at a specific time.  But if there is, all you need to do is enable bravia sync on the tv with 'auto tv on' settings and 'control for hdmi' on the sky box.

If the sky box can switch itself on, the tv will also switch itself on and select the correct hdmi input.  If the sky box cannot do this, you might want to look at a power timer switch, such as :

If you are looking for something as a burglar deterrent you might prefer something like this,
