Hi there
I was wondering if it's possible to setup sype and a webcam on this TV. If so what Equipment
do I need? I dont have a ps3
Thanks
Hesh
Hi am sorry to say it is only available on the 2011 models and this is a 2010 model.
is sony going to pubish a firmware upgrade to support skype on this model?
No - as above, the older hardware cannot support Skype unfortunately.
Thanks
Yeah it really sucks that they mis sold the 2010 models, making us consumers belive that we would start seeing some great new widgets with new firmware updates in 2011. There was actually a really long thread & stcky on the forum of angry sony customers that bought into the internet TV 'vision' in 2010 only to find that a few months later they would not see any useful widgets and services (i mean billibong tv - give me a break!)
It is a shame that Sony decided to close the whole thread to avoid embarassment and adverse publicity rather than discussing the failings and apologising to those who shelled out a great deal on the latest models to 'ride the internet TV wave' only to be left out of 2011 firmware upgrades.
Feel free to start commenting here and else where if you feel cheated by not getting the skype widget and mobile app publicsed in the press on your 2010 model becuase of the short sighted development startegy at Sony and miss selling of the Internet TV proposition... afterall firmware updates are meant to reduce the need to upgrade hardware after a few months. Any one else feeling really let down by sony on this matter?

Hi Jonesy
Well spotted...... Some poor excuses..... and underhand tactics.... I spotted this post, I'm sure many others have..................
(Admins, I saved the web cache - why delete a this post !!! - an answer would be good)
My Situation - I purchase a 40EX503 about 1 month ago.... I'm very happy with TV, good picture, sound etc.....
But disappoint in being dumped i.e. no updates for facebook, twitter - I did not know it was a 2010 TV
I purchased it against the strong reviews i.e trusted rviews etc
http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/best-budget-tvs-2011
(not budget to me)
Its still on sale.......
Marks & Spencer
Argos
john lewis The list goes on.......
So Sony - do the right thing and update the software (also remote control from andriod would be good)
Thanks rick

A lot of fobbing off... and Shame on sony for removing a valid thread of complaints!

I have a KDL-37EX503 and logged a support call regarding the firmware upgrade that would enable the android remote control. I had a call (well 4 calls) from Sony support and they confirmed that it WOULD be available to the EX503 "at some point" (i.e. it was being actively developed). Hopefully this also means they are also working on skype et al but I am not holding my breath.
Likewise, I bought this tv, as it was an 'internet tv', that was getting some great widgets and to read this, are completely disgusted.
Another example, of where Sony, are only cash focusted and not customer focusted.
Let hope they get hit by the lolzboat again !
when i was looking for a new internet tv i looked at all the brands and decided to go with sony as the tv i had at the time was also a sony but if this is sony treat its customers they wont be getting my custom next time i get a new tv im considering buying a samsung smart tv next and move my sony upstairs. I wish i had gone with samsung in the first place as my home entertainment system is samsung .
