USB HDD Recording & watching analog signal

I have a new 37EX720, with the latest firmware (PKG3.407EUA) and have tried the USB HDD recording option. I have connected a 320 GB external HDD to the TV and the recording option worked perfectly. It is easy to use, and the quality of the recording is great.

I understand that the TV only has 1 digital tuner so that I cannot watch a different channel than I am recording at that time. However, I had hoped that I would be able to watch the analog signal, while recording a digital channel. This would have been perfectly OK for me. However, as soon as I start recording, I cannot switch to analog TV anymore. Is there some fundamental reason that this is not possible? The TV should have both a digital and an analog tuner, right?

Is this something that could possibly be solved with a future firmware update?

I own a different TV model. but may be this help

I guess your TV model have single tuner not double tuners (pls refer to its specs)

The Single tuner can decode either analog or digital signal individually not simultaneously...this is why you can record only what are displayed on the screen

As soon you started the record function the TV lock the channel to prevent lost of record information by mistaken press any remote key

I don't think future firmware release can solve this demand, because it is related to TV hardware capability (single tuner)

Hi,

with reference to you watching Analogue, this will no longer be possible even if you were lucky enough to have twin tuners as all Analogue transmissions are being switched off across the country if they have not all been done already!, everything is being broadcast in Digital.
