What external hard drive can I use to record on my TV?

I recently purchased a sony bravia kdl40ex723 and noticed there was a record function. To start this working I need an external hard drive, what one can I use- does it have to be a sony one?

Hi,

no you dont have to use a sony one, Sony in fact recommend the Western Digital powered drives for use,  however you should be warned that once "registered to your tv it cannot be used on any other device including your pc !
