A290 registration problems

A pal of mine brought a VGN A290 back from the States a couple of weeks ago and (being his first Vaio) I pointed him in the direction of this forum. Problem is that registration will not recognise his serial number as valid. Is registration limited to European buyers or is it international?:smileyconfused:

The warranty will be limited to the USA. Sony Europe won't give support for the US import.

Thanks Rob, I will pass the info on. It seems a bit mean to deny him membership of this forum just because he bought his Vaio in the States ¿ especially as Sony don¿t participate here!
