audio jack stopped working

For some unknown reason my audio output jack has stopped working on my new VPCSE. When I plug in my earphones the laptop speakers continue to play and nothing can be heard on my earphones. If anyone out there can help, I would much appreciate it!

Hi baccoboy and welcome.

It could be a recent update or a hardware or a software problem but try the following to see if anything helps.

Go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound

You should see your Audio Devices: - Speakers, Digital Audio, and Headphones

Plug in your headphones and select Headphones

Select 'Set as Default'.

It should then automatically switch between Speakers and Headphones.

However, it could also be a hardware issue.  If the above doesn't work try connecting and disconnecting the headphones a few times just in case it is a poor contact.
