When I start my laptop the backlighting is fine. It shows the Sony Vario logo and then the lighting switches off. If I plug the laptop into a monitor all seems well and the laptop performs faultlessly. You can just see that the laptop's screen is functioning, although the lack of lighting makes it difficult.
