Hi,
I installed Win7 and have not had any serious major problems upgrading from WinVista that came installed with my Vaio FZ21Z when I bought it.
The only problem is bluetooth. The blue led is lights up with the green Wifi led. I cannot connect to bluetooth or find bluetooh in devices etc. Is there a driver download available from Sony website or is one needed to use bluetooth?
Also, I noticed that the RAM installed is 2GB/Go DDR2 SDRAM. Is this memory specific to Vaio-FZ21Z and what does Go mean? What is the maximum memory upgrade I can install? Will installing more memory make my Vaio run faster? Also can I use any compatible RAM from Crucial for eg?
I look forward to your suggestions.
Kind regards,
Sanjay

Hi Sanjay,
Follow the link I gave you and under Preinstalled Drivers and Utilities open Windows Vista. Download the Original Utilities package and the Original Drivers package and extract the Zip files.
You will find the Bluetooth Driver - (Broadcom) 6.1S3Q307 - 6.1.0.1203 in the drivers package and the Wireless Switch Setting Utility in the utilities package.
As there are no updates for either Vista or Win 7 for either of these the originals should work under Win 7.

Try checking it on your updates. There might still other drivers that need to be installed. One of them might be the bluetooth function.
Hi Sanjay,
Have you tried installing the original Vista Bluetooth Driver - (Broadcom) 6.1S3Q307 - 6.1.0.1203 for the original Drivers Package? You may also need to install the Wireless Switch Setting Utility from the original Utilities Package if you need to turn Bluetooth on and off.

Hi Rich, firionicable,
I can't seem to figure out exactly which Driver to install from the Sony Vista/7 download list. I shall
try to download the Broadcom Bluetooth driver ffrom the internet. After upgrading to Win7 I installed all the
drivers from the Sony Drivers list (i.e. from the link mentioned).
I would have thought when upgrading Win7 would have all the essential drivers for common uses, like Bluetooth, USB 2.0 etc.
If you can point me in the right direction to exactly which Drivers to Install from the Sony Drivers link, then this will make my task much more easier.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Cool. sm.
I had once a problem with Bluetooth on my Vaio. I installed the driver directly from Broadcom. Here's the link for Windows 7 but read the instruction carefully before you start to install the driver. http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php
Good luck,
Alex

Hi Rich
I installed the drivers etc. all OK. The Bluetooth utility works and recognizes my phone and exchanges numbers to link up - but after this event on my pc the phones icon has small yellow triangle with an exclamation mark - upon right-click and under properties the following is the problem:
Under Bluetooth Peripheral Device Properties/Device Status/...the following driver has not been installed - "The driver for this device/s are not installed (code28). There is no driver selected for device information settings or elements". The Location is: Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator.
By trying to find a solution - I got the message "Driver for Bluetooth Peripheral Devices is Not Installed". So, where do I download the "Bluetooth Peripheral Devices Driver"?
Thanks for all your suggestions.

Hi Sanjay,
I assume that this is the Windows PC driver for the phone itself and presumably it came with a CD containing a driver install option? If not try the manufacturers web site or try updating the driver in Device Manager and let Windows search the internet. However if you have all the functionality you require with the phone connected via Bluetooth this may be irrelevant.

Hi Rich,
I connected my Viao laptop with my Sony phone using Bluetooth and it worked perfectly, transmitted photos, music files, etc. Now I will have to sort out the "Bluetooth Peripheral Devices Driver" for my LG phone as Bluetooth works with my Sony phone its the driver from LG that needs to be installed/updated.
Thanks to all for you suggestions.

Sanjay
