Hi,
in the case of startup problems it might be helpful if one coud boot from a Multi Media Card.
I just wonder whether anyone has an idea about the possibility to start the notebook from an MMC and what actually would be requred to do so. Which OS should be used and what would be the BIOS settings like when attempting to start the laptop from the MMC.
Thanks.
Unfortunately no Sony Notebook will boot from any other device except a USB drive of the 3.5" variety.
William,
thank you for the fast reply. It is unfortunate that alternatively only the USB-Floppy could be used, especially as no floppy drive comes with the system but the MMC adapter and a slot for the memory stick do. Either one could perhaps be used.
As I understood from other blogs, the Phoenix BIOS would allow for a change in the startup sequence. Maybe SONY considers this for a later update. Would not be too bad.
Anyway, thank you again.
Oessi
Sony have locked the BIOS, so you can't just simply change it like on any desktop you've built yourself.
