Ok been trying to install vista since the early beta versions without success.Have now got the retail version and have the same problem. During the expanding files process my computer always freezes, this happens with either an upgrade from xp home or clean install, even bought a brand new hard drive and tried it on that with the same result, freezing up before expanding files is complete.Im wondering now if the computer has a hardware problem n.Can any body help me with this problem as its getting very frustating. Thanks
Have you run the VISTA UPGRADE ADVISOR to see if your K115 is capable of running Windows Vista?
Your Vaio is going to be a borderline model!!
Yep says its vista ready
With Vista, you need a LOT of RAM, so if it's under 512, forget it.
laptop specs are 3gig cpu 1024 mb ram 120 gb hard drive so this should be more then enough to run vista
Here is a list of the minimum specs required for Vista..
What flavour vista are you trying to install.?
tried about 4 beta versions and just tried a home basic version ,It never gets far into the install before the laptop freezes, usually around 21% of expanding files stage.Think its proberbly hardware related as the laptop has always had a tendency to freeze now and again even on a clean install of xp
