after going to the registration page and trying to input my sony vaio vgn ar61m it is not recognised so i am unable to register it, anybody else had this problem and is there anything else i can do?

I don't think it is possible to register a Vaio online that is no longer covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
Have you tried going here: -

Click on Vaio & Computing and enter your Vaio's Serial Number? What message do you get?
If all else fails, you can always telephone Vaio Support on the premium, out-of-warranty telephone line and ask them to register your Vaio. The number from the UK is 0905 0310006.
Thanks for your help, the only reason why im trying to register my laptop is because i had registered it about 2 yrs ago and was able to log in and see my driver updates and other things, but i had a problem with my laptop and had to wipe clean and start from scratch, so i cant seem to find this section again. Once again thanks for your help and im sure it wont be a problem.
