CD-ROM stopped working on VAIO Z-Series Laptop

My external CD-ROM reader has stopped working. The light is on but when I insert a disk, it can't read it. Explorer just says "Please insert a disk into BD-ROM Drive". I tried using the VAIO Care diagnostic tools and when I do this, it quickly flashes saying "No optical drive found!" and then a message appears saying "CD drive: The test was cancelled". In device manager everything looks fine. There are no warnings or errors under DVD/CD-ROM drives and the driver says that it is up to date. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This was all working a few weeks ago.

Nevermind.... Rebooting seems to have fixed the problem.
