Hey all,
I decided to give the clean install a try today, but ran into some problems.
My laptop runs on MCE2005 and though that if I followed the instructions that have been posted in this forum it would be the same except that a few changes.
Now I burned the DVD as it came out too much for a CD. Placed the disc into my laptop, booted up and it came up with the installation to start but when it came up with the Press Enter to installed Windows XP, I pressed Enter and it stated that it couldnt find any hard drive on the laptop ??
So I thought it was a problem with the disc, so I tried a Windows XP Pro disc that I bought for my main pc, and that came up with the same message.
Has anyone else had this problem ?? If anyone has and found a solution can ya pass it on please lol ??
BTW my laptop is a AR11B
Hi highroyds,
Your AR11B has a SATA hard drive which is not supported by any version of XP. This means if you do a clean install, you will lose your SATA drivers and XP cannot recognise the hard drive during installation.
To do a clean install you normally need a USB Floppy Drive connected so you can load the SATA drivers by pressing F6 during the XP install.
Have a look at THIS THREAD which will give you the alternative of slipstreaming the SATA drivers into the disc.
Cheers for that I'll try it tomorrow.
Just wanted to say thanks for ya help, tried the program mentioned in that thread and I just had to find the correct driver for the sata that was on the hd and it worked 2nd time lol.
Thanks again.
