Hi!
I have a new Sony Vaio VPC-EB1M1E/WI (Intel i3, 4GB RAM, HDD WDC WD5000BEVT-26A0RT0 500GB, Windows 7 Home Premium) for about one week.
Recently, I noticed a strange sound coming out my laptop. Every 5 or 10 seconds, I hear a sound like a click. It is very similar to the sound when you double-click a folder in Windows 7 (but the sound I hear is from inside the laptop, not the from speakers).
This sound seems to come from the right part, under the numeric keys.
What can it be?
Thank you!
It's the sound of the hard-drive. Nothing to worry about.
It is very annoying to hear a click every 5 seconds. And I don't think it's normal for a new HDD to make such noise. I found that this problem was also encountered to some past models. I am waiting now for responses form Sony and Western Digital.
UPDATE: Both Sony and WD said that the HDD should be replaced since this "clicking" noise is not something normal. I will get a replacement for the laptop from my seller.
