Computer keeps switching on at 2 specific times during the day

Help. I bought a Vaio VGC-VS2 whihc I am really pleased with appart from the follow REALLY annoying feature.

at 0608am and an some other time in the afternoon (when I am at work) it switches itself on from hibernation mode.

I have disabled all schedueld tasks from Norton. & can confirm I have set to recording on.

I have also only installed the software whihc comes free with the PC when bought.

Looked in the knowledge base but cannot find anything

Please help me save electricity & get a good nights sleep!!!

Have you looked in scheduled tasks?
Go to: Start > Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks ( usually 4th row down)

You should see whats waking you up in there!!! Then remove it...

Thats two people with this problem, this is REALLY odd.

If you have the tvtv program installed it wakes the computer up to sync it's task list. Check your settings.

Thanks.. I have this installed as it comes free with the PC. I just went into the Prefferences and unchecked "Auto Syncronisation" in the "Schedule tab". I will let you knowi if I get woken up tomorrow morning at 0608

Interestingly my vaio did not switch on this morning after I changed the tvtv settings. I am at work now so let me check this evening to see if it swiched on during the day today & will let you know. It is sounding if it is tvtv.

I will be amazed if it is. What an awful design of tvtv software..so bad in fact I will complain to them & sony if that is the case. Sony should withdraw the software from their products as it makes people think it is a faulty machine...

Sony may say that the problem you are experiencing is normal... Not sure if they will do anything about it...:smileysad:
