Your VGC-LA1 has no video outputs, so there is no way of connecting directly to a monitor.
There are USB to VGA/DVI/HDMI boxes now available. I have not tried one so I do not know what quality will be like.

wow, thank you soooooo much, thats brilliant. I had convinced myself I was missing the vga thingy so good to know there isnt one

ps I just need one dont I as the existing screen wont need one?
The internal graphics should handle the existing screen.
