Default behaviour of icons in notification area.

In the notification area, there is the option to display icons depending on one's preferences.

They are:

1. Show icon and notifications. The icon always remains visible on the taskbar in the notification area and any notifications are displayed.
2. Hide icon and notifications. The icon is hidden and notifications aren't displayed.
3. Only show notifications. The icon is hidden, but if the program triggers a notification balloon, it's displayed on the taskbar.

I have the Action Center notification (the likkle flag) set on the third option, but seemingly at random, and after a notification, it resets itself to the first option and stays their until I redo the options. I don’t think this used to happen. Any ideas, please?
