Display appears snowy/scrambled/grainy

Hello,

I turned on my PCG-GRV616S last night and the screen was all snowy/scrambled/grainy and the desktop icons were barely comprehendable. I rebooted the system and it appeared to work but after a few minutes it returned to the snowy/scrambled/grainy screen again.

After many attempts this morning the screen still reamins the same. Someone mentioned to me that it might be the graphics card slowly dieing.

What you should do next is open an e-Support case HERE or alternatively, if you need a somewhat faster response, pick the country you are calling from the list shown ON THIS PAGE and phone Sony directly.

Sony will arrange to investigate your problem, but bear in mind that the repairs take place normally in Germany but possibly elsewhere, which nearly always involves overseas shipping. it can take up to about 6 weeks for you to recieve your repaired unit, sometimes less.

Sony will send you a box to ship the computer in, collect it from you, and then return it to you with details of what they replaced or repaired.

If the unit is under guarantee it will be a free repair, otherwise Sony will charge you for the most expensive cost of the part to replace, which can be as much as £470.23, further details of this can be found HERE
