I've got a problem on Windows Vista... if I set an action to "do nothing" (don't hibernate, don't suspend, don't shutdown) for when I close my laptop's lid ... after I close the lid, if I open it, the display is not turning on. I suspect that it is something wrong with the drivers or the bios.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
My laptop is a VAIO FE11S, with BIOS version R0172J3, running with the drivers that are on vaio-link for windows vista (nvidia video driver 7.15.10.9813).
The BIOS update for the FE41Z should sort out this problem. It seems to do it for everyone else.
It is located HERE .
Hope this helps.
But should I install it?
Is it safe to install a BIOS from another laptop?
My laptop is FE11S, not FE41Z.
Well am not 100% sure that you should but i do remember reading it on several occations. I will try and find the thread and report back.
Here is a link to the thread. I don't know that there is much difference in the bios between models are the are all fairly similar in setup. You should really PM the poster and ask them whether it is ok for your model really.
Thank you for your help.
But I believe that it isn't a good ideia to update to that bios, since my model doesn't even have a Core 2 Duo CPU, it's a Core Duo... since FE41Z is newer it probably has new instructions that my motherboard doesn't support.
Do you know what's the best way to contact Sony about this issue? To know if it's safe to update the bios or not... I guess it's better ask them instead asking a user from the forum
Might be the best idea.
