I have a VAIO PCG-Z1XSP on a wired connection to a Linksys WAG325N which is connected to a business broadband service from BT. McAfee Speedometer (on my business ThinkPad T60) indicates this is equivalent to a T1 service. However, on the VAIO, McAfee indicates the connection is 1/6th the speed; dog slow. This is confirmed when I download files from the internet....same files takes 6 times long to download on the VAIO.
The faster ThinkPad has 1gb of RAM and the VAIO just 512mb. The VAIO has about 45% freespace and is completely defragged (even the MFT). There are no viruses, etc, according to Norton 360 and all temp files locations are tidy. I've checked the VAIO site for updates and there are none.
Not sure what else to try...I must be able to get files to download faster than a dialup modem, this is nuts.
Any ideas out there
