Hi
I have a PCG9W4M with a DVD RW DW Q58A Drive. When I put a blank disc in the drive and look in explorer the name of the drive changes from DVD RW to CD, and won;t allow me to burn any DVD's. I have tried two types of media, the latest being Maxell DVD-RW disc version 1.1/2x-speed DVD-RW. Any possible solutions are appreciated.
Thanks
Nick
Hi Nick and welcome to ClubVAIO.
Can you have a look in Device Manager to see if there are any yellow warnings against your drive? If there are, please give us the error code.
Start>Right-Click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager
Expand DVD/CD-Rom Drives.
Are you trying to burn a dvd with windows?
If so you can't, you need another application eg Nero, Roxio etc
LOL
I think I overlooked the most likely cause didn't I?.
Thanks Jumpy.

Hi guys
There is no error with the drive, in fact it reads DVD's ok, (yes I know it uses a different laser for that), and I am using Olympus Master to try to burn the DVD.

Ok Guys
I've sorted it. I got hold of a copy of Roxio and it worked, so the problem is with Olympus Master software, but thanks to all.
