DVD-Ram Drive likes to think its a CD-Rom only

Hey guys,

I just deleted a thread I posted as I had jumped the gun. My DVD RW drive on my FE21M is currently not liking dvds, I'm not sure whats up with it, i have tried uninstalling the driver and adding the drive again but it keeps adding it as a "CD-Rom" drive. does anyone know what might be causing this, I would prefer not to have to clean instal my computer, well I can't anyway right now as I need it, it's very weird though, I tried to put in a DVD -R and it told me something like "invalid function" yet it should be able to use them, and I have before. It's a "Sony DVD RW DW-G520A" If anyone has any info or ideas that would be helpful, thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

Is it reading and writing CDs?

What DVD burning software do you gave installed?

Any errors in Device Manager?

You could try deleting the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from you Registry - can't do any hard and may help.

Clean the lens with a lint free cloth, not too much preasure on it either.
