DW-G250a Problems

So here's my problem.
I have a Vaio VGN-FE31B and I've been having some weird problems with my dvd-rom.
Some DVD load in 5 seconds, others just keep spinning there forever with weird noises coming from the drive.
Also, I have this pack of 50 LG dvd's, I burn the DVD with Nero, data verification works, and the DVD loads normally, but when I eject the DVD and put it again, it does not load at all.
So I'm guessing this could be a driver problem of some sort?

I've been searching the Internet for a month now, and no solution was available, so please I beg you, I need your help.

Hi HassanE,

The problem you describe is rarely driver related.

The usual cause is often a failing drive, a dirty laser lens (especially if this is happening with pre-recorded DVD’s), a dirty media surface, or the brand of media. I would first try cleaning the lens with a proprietary product and if that doesn’t resolve the problem then try a different brand of media.

In order to eliminate a driver problem you could of course remove the device in Device Manager and then re-boot.

I hear you.
But the thing is, the Sony dvd's load in 5 seconds.
But these LG's keep spinning there!
Plus, all the original movie DVD's and music CD's also load in a blink of an eye.
Would a firmware update cause this in any way?

Would a firmware update cause this in any way?

Most unlikely. Notebook drives can be very fussy on brand of media and I suspect that this is the problem.

Try Verbatim, or Sony media...

Yeah I've been told that before, and I believe it could be the problem.
Thanks a lot mate!
