Error after Windows update

Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. After the last windows update , I get an error message about RTHDCPL.EXE (the realtek audio driver).

"The System DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL c:\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL".

Didn't spot an update through VAIO update.

Any ideas ?

Hi wadadliman

This error message was caused by the latest MS Security update (KB925902), have a look at KB935448 for a solution..

Wow that was fast Thalamus.

Downloaded the fix, rebooted and the message is gone. Don't see the little RealTek icon in the taskbar so I guess the fix just disabled that component ?

Can still get to it if I need it (which is rare) from control panel.

Nice one !

Thanks again.

You're welcome wadadliman..

You can restore your Realtek icon..

Go to Control Panel > Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices > Realtek Audio Manager..

A new window should open, click on the i (information button) bottom left, another window should open, select Show icon in system tray, then click OK..

Yep. At first it said it couldn't hide it, suggesting it thought it was visible. Then clicking it again enabled it.
