FE21H no longer burns CD's or DVD's

Hi, this is the my first time on the forum and i'm not very computer savy so please forgive me if i'm making an obvious mistake.

My problem is that I have had my FE21H for two months and now it no longer burns DVD's or CD's. It plays both fine and it used to burn both aswell. When I use a program like Roxio, XP or WMP the burn process starts and ejects the disk once finished but when i try to load the disk it either is still blank or contains a folder with no files inside.
At no point does it say their is an error and ive tried different brands of cd (sony/tdk) with no success.
The drive is a SONY DVD RW DW-G520A, Sony support told me to reinstall the driver, but this has not helped.
Has anyone heard of this problem and does anyone have any advice:smileyconfused:

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have the same problem.

How do I start a new thread? If anyone from the Sonysupport is viewing this please help!

I tried to get an e-support reference this evening, but the automated email response did not provide me with an accepted login name.

I used the url provided in the email, and it does not recognise the Patricia1066 login name.

Let me give you my troubles and I hope you can help.
My dvd burner on the new vaio FE21B is not operating to burn DVDs. As the installed driver of 2001 vintage this is explained!
it thinks its a CDROM so Im not able to create a DVD, though it can play movies.

VAIO VGN F21B purchased 15.8.06

The problem is with the sony dvd burner

1. I tried to use Click to DVD Click software today for the first time to create a DVD.
2. I used Infiniti DVD R+ then Verbatim R+
3. The DVD Click started to create DVD and ended with error code 1 – that is reformat the DVD
4. The dvd drive shows as CD - F Drive
5. when I place a DVD R+ in the drive it only offers burning a CDROM and the explorer window cannot read the DVD. When I place a DVD-ROM in the drive it reads the drive correctly and a movie will play correctly.
6. I am using Infiniti DVD R= and Verbatim DVD R+
7. I tried to do the corrections suggested by the forum –
8. I updated the driver – it believes the above is the latest driver
9. I uninstalled the device – I then ran find new hardware – it installed the same CDROM driver as before.
10. I found a restore point two weeks ago – made no difference.
11. Can you provide the correct driver please as nothing shows up on the net for this device?
