File Sharing Problem

Do you remember when my desktop f*cked up and I spent days trying to recover my docs. Well, that wasn¿t the only thing that¿s messed up¿¿¿¿.

As you know I have got my two computers (my desktop and laptop) that can access each other on the network. Well, kind of. They both see each other on the network and my desktop can access my laptop, no problem.

The only problem is, my laptop can't access my desktop, not because I'm getting some error, but because I'm getting prompted for a password whenever I try to access the desktop on the network!

The strange thing is, it prompts me with a login screen, but it will only allow me to use the guest account on my desktop. First of all, I don't even think you can set a password for the guest account, but other than that, the guest account on my desktop has been turned off.

Whenever I do turn on my guest account, I am prompted with an error message. Saying that I'm not allowed to access that computer because

"Login failure: the user has not been granted the requested login type at this computer."

Any suggestions guys :kissing_heart:

Yes try seeing Paris, it's quite nice even in the spring.

You sure need some help! 😛

I think you may want to disable windows firewall(if you have got one) I had a similar problem a few days ago, so *shrugs shoulders* may be worth a try?

Stab in the dark:

In My Computer / View-Advanced Settings

Is "Simple File Sharing" enabled on your Desktop, if not try enabling it.

Also a stab in the dark (because I was networking to Windows 98 which ain't the same thing) I created an account specifically to network with. I set the network up on that account, then used the logon name and password to be able to actually access it.

LOL @ Akanksha, why did you quote that LOL

Wish I knew, this sounds odd.
Make sure filesharing is turned on - also make sure you're sharing something.

Well I thought Paris was just awesome, beats London hands down no question.

Not that I'm going off topic at all.

Anyway this is the closest thing I could find to your problem, although I'm not sure it helps.
